The 1,000 yen note has a picture of a famous doctor on it, Dr Hideo Noguchi (more info at Fukushima Pref website and Wikipedia. He was born in this old house and next door there is a museum all about Dr Noguchi's work. Unfortunately, they've put this ugly metal roof over the old house.
